Can't Get Needed Changes Started

Can't Get Needed Changes Started

We need to make changes, why can’t we get them started?

Firms may need to undertake organizational change initiatives for various reasons such as changing accounting systems, project management procedures, CRM systems, performance review processes, compensation system, or integrating personnel from a recent acquisition.   Sometimes the need to change is obvious, but the steps to take are not.

Solution Path

An organizations ability to change is strongly influenced by its culture. I have found the Star Model provides a framework for factually defining an organization’s culture.

This methodology may initially seem odd but defining the organization’s culture is critical for implementing successful change initiatives. An article titled "Leading Organizational Change" explaining this approach is available for download from the Resources Page of this website.  There are three steps to the process.

  1. Defining the Organization's Current State.
  2. Defining the organization’s desired Future State.
  3. Implementing key initiatives to reach the desired Future State.

The Organizational Star Model provides a framework for defining the desired future state of an organization and creation of the action plan to get there.
